Why not join us in creating an appreciation program that diverse people can enjoy together, using the The Seashell Gallery (a registered tangible cultural property) as a field?

After the lecture, participants will be challenged to create questions that will enrich their appreciation. Anyone with an interest in architecture and art appreciation is welcome to participate.

Please apply with your name and contact information (0880-85-0137 or info@umi-no-gallery.jp)

Lecture 1

Creating a Safe and Secure Space for Participation and Developing Questions to Enhance Art Appreciation

Lecturer: Kenta Hayashi (Director of "Art Appreciation Workshops with the Visually Impaired")

What ideas and techniques can be used to create a space where people with different backgrounds and characteristics, such as architecture beginners and those studying or working in architecture, or people with and without disabilities, can enjoy an art appreciation program together?

Also, how can we prepare questions to further enrich an art appreciation program?

Kenta Hayashi, who has created art appreciation spaces for people with visual impairments, will share examples of his own architectural appreciation programs. (This lecture will be held online at the Umi Gallery.)

Lecture 2

Guide: Hiromi Kuroi (Registered Tangible Cultural Property Research Officer/Heritage Manager, Representative of Umi Gallery CHILL OUT General Incorporated Association)

Umi Gallery staff will explain the history and architectural features of the Umi Gallery. (This is a 15-minute mini-lecture.)

Workshop 1: Let's Appreciate It! / Workshop 2: Let's Ask Questions!

Supporters: Shihoko Matsumoto, Momoyo Shimazaki (Curatorial Staff, Warako Museum)

Participants will split into small groups and appreciate the architecture of the Umi Gallery with supporters and Umi Gallery staff.

Afterwards, participants will discuss what kind of "questions" they can prepare to enrich the architectural appreciation program. Finally, lecturer Kenta Hayashi will provide a critique.

Organized by: Umi Gallery CHILL OUT General Incorporated Association

Co-organized by: Kochi Prefectural Architects and Building Engineers Association Hata Branch 3 (Nakamura, Shimizu, Sukumo), Youth Committee Hata Branch
